Youth Summer Trips
This summer, as usual, has been very busy for the youth ministry.
I first of all have to let everybody know about the amazing things that are happening in The Filling, which is our Sabbath morning program. We just finished a 10 week course with the 9-12th graders on how to deal with money responsibly. We went over everything from opening a checking account, to planning for retirement. I think that the students learned a lot, but most importantly learned that everything belongs to God and we are just taking care of His stuff.
In the Jr. High Sabbath School Rob Holmgren has joined our team and the students in there are being blessed by that ministry. If you are interested in taking part in this adventure as a volunteer we really need you. Talk to one of the pastors and express your interest.
I think that on this years climbing trip we got more climbing in than almost any other year. I think that we averaged 6 climbs a day which was a lot and the students were really tired at the end of each day, but not too tired that they couldn't enjoy the waterslide.
The Rock Climbing trip is one of those trips where you don't want any more adventure than what you've signed up for, and that was the case this year. We again were blessed with safety on the rocks this year.
Last week was the annual Boundary Waters trip. Five students got to experience the best wilderness that Minnesota has to offer. We saw some amazing things including one of the largest turtles that I have ever seen that hung out in the water around our camp.
We also toughed out one of the longest days in the Boundary Waters that I have ever experienced. In one day we took almost 600 rods of portages which is around 1.5 miles. The students came back tired, but filled with the memories of God's second book.
Thanks for all of your prayers over the summer and your support of Minnetonka Youth Ministries.
