“Christ Is Risen”
Is it just me or does it seem that Easter is not celebrated by Adventists with the vigor that it should be? We have little or no problem with having a month’s worth of Christmas songs, but we only give one day of celebration to what is, at least so far, the greatest moment/weekend, in earth’s history.
It was on Easter weekend that the great controversy between God and Evil was finalized with God coming out the clear winner! I am not suggesting that we walk around with ash on our foreheads, or abstain from meat, but if it would help us turn our thoughts to this great moment in history more often perhaps it is not such a bad idea?
As we worship corporately today I hope that we can once again experience the real impact that Easter should have on us personally. What impact does the gift that Jesus gave on the cross have on you, your family, and your colleagues at work? What story is told in your life because of the Easter story?
I read the following story this week. It tells of a Muslim who became a Christian in Africa. "Some of his friends asked him, 'Why have you become a Christian?' He answered, 'Well, it’s like this. Suppose you were going down the road and suddenly the road forked in two directions, and you didn't know which way to go, and there at the fork in the road were two men, one dead and one alive--which one would you ask which way to go?'"
We serve a risen Lord! Do we live our life today like Jesus is alive! I sure hope so. We have a great hope not only for eternal life, but also for right now! I believe that it will be a great day when we see Jesus face to face again, hopefully in the near future. But I also believe that I have seen Jesus this week and many times in my life working in the lives of people who follow Him. The risen Jesus cannot only be impactful in eternity He must have impact today!
So perhaps this week someone might see the risen Jesus through you? You never know!
