On January 22, 2008, Anna Frances Jones Thorne became a centenarian. The past 100 years have led her through many accomplishments. Among them was winning a gold medal as a contralto soloist while in high school in North Dakota . She has sung in several select choirs and was once president of Cillian Singers. She enjoys crocheting, interacting with people, doing Word Finds and counting motor cycles when she is out and about.. Her marriage and the births of her two daughters have contributed much to her joy and happiness.
When asked what she enjoys most in life she indicated that it is the feeling of closeness to God as she leaves the church service each week. Fran joined the S.D.A. Church in Minnetonka late in life and attributes her joining to the friendship and caring attitude of its members. She considers prayer as the largest influence in her life.
Fran says that the most important lesson she has learned in life is the joy she receives through friendship and helping others. Her sage advice to others is "Don't be afraid that you can't be with God if you do right. Always try to please the Lord and listen to others."
Her delightful grin, the sparkle in her eyes, her lilting laughter, and her readiness to be a part of anyone's life make her a precious soul indeed. --By Bonnie Johnson, January 24, 2008
