A BELATED THANK YOU
It occurs to me that I have not taken the opportunity to thank everyone for supporting Minnetonka Christian Academy. In particular, those who have been the silent majority of supporters over the years. You may have supported God's school through finances, or perhaps even with your time and talents. Some have gone the distance and have dedicated years of service by committing their families to Christian education. As a former office employee of the school, I can't express enough how refreshing it was to be in an environment of staff that was willing to provide prayer support over anything, and to observe students reaching out to each other either by emotional support or just standing in the gap for the rights of others.
I have memories that will remain with me throughout the years. Some of the simplest are being able to pray with students that are heavily into a disagreement. Being able to take the time and stop the inertia of Satan's influence, and really practice the art of praying for our enemies is a strong experience that not only affected the youth involved but also stayed with me into future jobs; allowing me once again to pray for my enemies and having God change me, instead of "them". Another memory is that of a dear volunteer that stayed in the office while I met with two teenagers expressing suicidal thoughts. We talked and prayed for 1 ½ hours while God worked his miracles in their lives. It warms my heart that God let me know that these now young adults are covered in his protection. One is working in God's mission and has brought her family into God's kingdom and the other is a young parent of the church.
Perhaps sharing these memories have brought back memories of your own in connection with MCA, or even another school where you have provided your talents. I want to let you know that you ARE important - no matter how you share your life. Just as students, staff and volunteers have molded my life; through God, you have the power to be a terrific influence in the lives that Jesus places in your world. Thank you, thank you, for being willing to remain available to His direction. --By Patty Gadberry, Vice-Chair, Governing Board, January 10, 2008
