A SUGGESTED PROGRAM FOR SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT FOR 2008
Are you motivated to give new priority to developing your relationship with God in 2008? If you do not have a daily "to-do list" that helps you connect with God and keep you focused on Him, here are my suggestions:
- A series of Sermons on the book "Revelation," called, "FUTURETENSE," begins on January 19, 2008, and ends on May 31. This fresh approach to the book will focus on Jesus. Read each chapter (to be listed in the bulletin) during the week before the sermon and try to be present throughout the series.
- Read the New Testament Scripture that corresponds with the chapters of "The Desire of Ages." Read two pages a day of "The Desire of Ages" (Sunday to Friday), and four pages on Sabbath. You can read it online here. Each day as you read ask: What did this passage say? What did it say about God? What did it say about me? Then talk to God about what you have learned.
- On the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm, you will be able to attend a Prayer Meeting in the church office. We will pray for our church vision, church members who have needs, and our ministries.
- Make one new friend at church each month. Go up to someone you do not know, possibly someone new to our church, introduce yourself, begin a friendship. Look for that person each week. Make contact during the week. Get together for a meal. Pray together. Get your new circle of friends together (12 by the end of the year) and build a fellowship group.
- Increase your giving to the Church Budget by 10% a month, or start giving any amount if this is new to you. Place your gift in an envelope and mark it "Budget."
- Volunteer in any ministry our church operates (MCA, Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, Deacon/ess, Lay Pastors, etc). The pastors can help you start.
- Once a month, invite someone to come to church with you, or to some church activity.
